Responsibilities

  • The role holder is responsible for Strategic Procurement & Projects across all Procurement spend in Demand & Indirect in Guinness Nigeria as well as drives Vendor Base Rationalisation and evaluation/selection and development of suppliers of long-term relevance to the business
  • The post-holder is expected to deliver significant profit growth/savings and added value to the business through developing Category Strategies, focusing on Strategic sourcing and driving through cost saving projects, by working with cross functional Teams.
  • This will require a fundamental change in focus away from transactional procurement to adoption of a comprehensive Category Management process and implementation of Strategic Sourcing.
  • Manages a portfolio of approximately 700 suppliers
  • Expected to deliver significant year on year cost reductions net of inflation.
  • Targeted benefits include delivery of savings projects committed by the Procurement Director to the business
  • To own and develop Strategic Procurement in Guinness Nigeria.
  • To deliver cost savings year on year
  • To identify savings projects and initiatives for cost efficiency.
  • To drive Supplier Rationalisation programmes and develop Suppliers of long term relevance to the business.
  • To fully embed Category Management in Guinness Nigeria.
  • To contribute and support the Pan Africa Category Management agenda.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Management and leadership of the Procurement Demand & Indirect Team comprising of 2 Category Managers and 2 Supplier Performance Managers.
  • Leading the Category Teams and working through cross functional Teams, securing Strategy sign-offs by key stakeholders/ the Guinness Nigeria Leadership Team and driving implementation.
  • High performance coaching and development of the Demand & Indirect Procurement Team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Embed Category Management and develop/drive Category strategies
  • Deliver savings and identified projects for the business.
  • Project manage and drive initiatives and Supplier Rationalisation programme
  • Manage, develop and coach all reports to build a high performing team

Requirements

  • Graduate calibre, MBA would be an added advantage
  • Minimum 7 years post qualification Procurement experience; experience within the FMCG environment is advantageous.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop strategic options.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with significant evidence of savings and value delivery.
  • Project Management skills and ability to track & drive through projects
  • Sound commercial awareness and the ability to contribute to the wider business process outside immediate role responsibilities.
  • Exceptional leadership skills to build and maintain a high performing team
  • Ability to work through cross-functional teams across multi sites.
  • Ability to engage and influence a wide range of senior stakeholders and be a change agent.
