The ideal candidate will under the supervision of the State Advocacy Officer support Save the Children's efforts to influence and bring about change in the awareness, altitudes, behaviours and policies related to the rights of children in the country programme with' special focus on Vaccine, Health workers and Nutrition

Qualifications
At least national diploma (ND/OND), in health, nutrition, communications or related social science field. Substantial experience in advocacy and policy development I research in the development context. Knowledge of the media and its role in raising awareness and shaping public policy. Experience working with children on Health and Nutrition will be an added advantage and knowledge of local language (Hausa) is desirable.


3.) Driver - Gombe (N780, 000 P.A GROSS)

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe driving of Save the Children UK vehicle, staff and Assets. The Driver will ensure cleaning, proper maintenance of vehicles in compliance with the Driver's handbook and safe driving standards.

Qualifications

  • Facilities Project Management.
  • Maintaining office equipment and facilities; arrange for repairs when necessary. Make recommendations for new or additional office equipment as appropriate.

  • Develops and implements the procurement execution strategy and procedures in accordance with the company guidelines.
  • Analyzes and evaluates purchase requisition forms, as assigned, to ensure purchases meet requirements.
  • Communicates with requesting unit or department personnel in person, by telephone or in writing when discrepancies appear on unit/department's purchase requisitions and modifies forms accordingly to ensure adherence with company's procurement processes
  • Communicates with vendors to interpret, clarify, inform and resolve procurement issues.

  • Coordinating purchasing activities includes researching, identifying, and evaluating vendors for pricing and quality, documenting all purchasing decisions, and completing purchase orders.
  • Ensure authorized signatory approvals are followed, and purchase order/change orders are prepared and issued with applicable attachments.
  • Informs the departmental manager or H.O.D of complex procurement issues, critical areas or where vendor claims may have been requested and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintains good relationships with vendors to provide the maximum utilization of their expertise, ideas, methods and material application in order to achieve maximum cost savings.
  • Ensure that distribution of procurement documentation is promptly accomplished as required by procurement flow chart and seek approvals, authorizations and signatures.

Background UNICEF 

Nigeria needs to update its online presence in order to truly serve the country program as a one-stop shop for data, analysis and stories on children and socio-economic development. The current web pages www.unicef.org/infobycountry/nigeria.html and http://www.unicef.org/nigeria/ need a thorough overhaul in terms of design and contents to do justice to what UNICEF aspires to achieve through its country program of support to the Government and people of Nigeria.


Purpose of the Consultancy
Under the technical guidance and supervision of the Chief, Media and External Relations the consultant will:

  • provide a new look and contents for the two webpages, including suggestion of photos
  • provide inputs for web maintenance strategy
  • provide inputs for overall web strategy including relationship between info by country web page; country web page; and Facebook.


Major Tasks to be Accomplished

  • Review existing structure and propose new / amended structure for web pages
  • A rewrite of major sections of both web pages
  • Write up document with detailed recommendations for web maintenance and strategy, including the relationships between web pages and the Facebook page.


Major Outputs / Deliverables

  • Revised outline of contents for the two websites, cleared and vetted by supervisor
  • redesigned and rewritten websites.
  • 1 support document of at least 2 pages with actionable recommendations for maintenance and strategy for on-line presence.


Mimimum Qualifications, Specialized Experience and Competencies
The successful candidate should hold an MA or MSc in journalism, development studies or related field; 8 years of experience in producing high-quality text material for similar outlets / and institutions; and should be fully conversant with development discourses, especially relating to women and children.

The candidate should have excellent client relations skills and be broadly familiar with RedDot web content management software.
